This is Volt's current fursuit. Made by me back in 2008, he was originally a boy.
Here's the story of how I got my fursona..
*ahem* this will take a little explaining for those of you who don't know wtf is going on. :)
So, if any of you know me personally enough to know my conflicts over the years with my fursona identity, you'll know it hasn't been an easy one. There has never been a character that whole-heatedly represents "me" since the creation of my character Sleekstar back in 2005. Although I still identify as Sleekstar everywhere, the character is a cat. And I'm so not a cat. :P
The only things I knew about myself is that I was definitely a wolf. And.. well that was pretty much it. :B
So back in 2010 I was randomly doodling in one of my classes when I drew up a design that I named "Volt". He was originally a teal and orange coyote with white accents on his body, with his signature lightening bolt marking on each of his legs. (This was BEFORE the Bolt movie, for those of you wondering. Those stealing Disney fucks.)
He was literally created within a week for a 4th of July celebration.
This is one of the first pics taken of him, before I re-vamped his eyes and hands. Not my favorite pic ever, but it's a good pic of Volt and shows the lightening bolt very well. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4110215/
I *ALMOST* sold him soon after that, because I was low on cash. But my good friend
pleaded with me and convinced me not to. So, Volt stayed.
His look stayed like that for about a year, until I finally decided to rip those horrible stoner eyes off and replace them with much more friendly looking eyes. Also, he got a new set of hand paws.

During these two years I still frantically searched for my identity. Really though, it wasn't just the past two years, but more so the whole entirety of my involvement with the furry fandom, and since finding out just what a 'fursona' was. I tried creating different characters, and one stayed for a little while (for those of you who remember the character Loki, she was around for a little time. But she didn't stay.) I even tried going back to my roots and figuring out my cat fursona, Sleekstar.
Sleekstar's original design was a pure black cat with a white heart mark over her heart. I made a full black cat suit, and tried being a cat for a while. But my true species presides, and being a wolf at heart I couldn't get into the character. So I sold the black cat (just the suit not the character) and continued drawing many random furry characters until it finally hit me.
As I was drawing a random picture of Volt one day, I decided to draw him as a female, with all my piercings (gauges, eyebrow, industrial, septum, ect) and with a little 'eye makeup' on. (I believe my reason for drawing him as a female in the first place was I was drawing a picture of my boyfriend's fursona and Volt snuggling or something, and wanted it to be male/female instead of male/male, to represent me better.
Once I drew him as a female, I sat and looked.. and looked.. and looked at what I had just drawn. Then it hit me. It FU*KING hit me. My fursona was there in front of me all along, I had just never noticed before. (My reaction: ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!)
Volt had kind of become like my icon anyways; what most people recognized me for at cons and such.
So since I realized my true 'sona back in December-ish, I've been plotting ever since.
However, I've also come to terms with myself that I absolutely cannot make my own fursona fursuit. It's just not going to come out perfect like I want her to, for some reason I just can't do it. So, in a very tough decision, I've made up my mind to commission
for female Volt's fullsuit. (To be completed by them by October or sooner).
I'm so very excited to get a costume from them, and I'm so happy with myself that I finally figured out who I am on the inside. Orange and teal, baby. :)
