I got the idea for this image from a black-and-white photography class I took about seven years ago. The way it worked was, I printed an 8 X 10 inch image twice, and sepia toned one of them. I cut one vertically, and the other horizontally. I wove both of them together and mounted them on 11 X 14 inch mounting board.

I simplified the process by taking a preexisting image, creating two layers, taking away a bit of the color from one, and cutting away even squares according to the guides.

Perhaps, one of these days, I'll scan the image at a higher resolution. so as to get a printable image.
