Current sprite sheet of Skylert the Hedgehog for sprite comics. Before he was a red recolor of Shadow, I put a shit load of effort into this sheet so do NOT steal.

(I'm assuming this sprite's in Sonic 1/2 style, as that's what it most resembles.)
In terms of structure, it's fine. It's in proportion compared to Sonic, and the poses are adequete, I'm pretty impressed by the hands, too. Nice work there.
However. Your colouring needs work. I discovered a single pose of your sprite has 97 colours. Sprites don't need that many colours (after the advent of 16bit consoles, sprites have had a maximum of 16 colours, period). It may not seem like much, but 16 colours is almost always enough for any sprite. This is even more vitally important for Genesis sprites, as the machine only had a global palette of 64 colours. At the moment, you have:
36 shades of black.
12 shades of flesh tone.
15 variations on the same shade of grey.
I'm all for detail, but things like this seem pretty obsessive. In order for a sprite to look just right with other sprites of the same style, they have to have the same colour count. I recommend limiting yourself to a maximum of 3 shades of each main colour, and reusing those even if it means it's not exactly the right colour. Choose these colours from official sprites of the same style (that is, don't mix StH with SAdv), and pick colours that have versatility.
You might also want to work on your shading of these sprites. It's mostly the glut of colours you have making shading a practical impossibility, but you need to put in some more highlights. In the original Sonic style, there were spots of a very light grey on the sprites, giving them a shiny look. On this sprite, all the colours are average/dark, making the sprite seem muddy in comparison. Once again, this is mostly an issue with your palette.
Though, I'm pretty impressed with the detail you've managed to cram in there. :3 I'd love to see it condensed down to 16 colours and tweaked just that little bit so it would fit right in with other sonic sprites :D

Thanks for the great comment. The only reason why there is a lot of colors on it is because I usually hang out on a forum called Mobius X. The spriters there are really good and use like a lot of colors and shading for their sprites. Believe it or not, the colors on this was bad before. The head was very bad until a friend of mine, Joel, fixed the shading for me. So I went there with his shading and got the color fo him today. Thanks for the good critique.
I couldn't illustrate my point properly in text, so I went ahead and edited the sprite to show you. I hope you don't mind :)

I reduced the amount of colours to 14, making shading a hell of a lot easier. I tried to keep the sprite's design as true as I could to your one, so I didn't change anything but the colours and the shading (I referenced Sonic for exact shading details, too). I'm sure I could do better if I took more time, but eh, this was just a demonstration.
The important thing to remember is that it's not the amount of colours you use, it's how you use them. It's wasteful to use loads of colours of the same hue. So if you use colours sparingly, but use them well, the picture will be more colourful than it otherwise would have been. Thrift is a spriter's best friend ;)
