Odd-looking building, but I rather like the modernity of it. It looks to be what it is, as opposed to, say, a hotel. Any idea of what the pillar might be for or represent?

Is it just me, or is the building somewhat shaped like Australia if you'd look at it from above?

Big, mostly transparent entrance and a big transparent dome behind. Methinks the latter is where the Council meets.

Isn't that a bit like the city council building in Toronto?

Wow I love that building!

I was partially inspired by the Metis-themed architecture of some buildings in North America (such as the Canadian Center for Civilization in Hull, Quebec and the Museum of Indian-American Art in Washington, DC. ) I've never been to those buildings but I've seen pictures.

I'll do some color pictures soonish. As it was explained to me, Chakonan public buildings tend to be designed to blend into the environment, so the facade of this building (as any of the other buildings on the government plaza) is composed of natural stone quarried from the actual site. The buildings are also embedded into inclines so as to be partially below grade, this reduces their impact and makes the Government Centre much more naturalistic. I'll try a color picture soon.
