*nods* Well, as my father, a former F-4D pilot always says, that thing is a maintainance bitch. And considering it's privately owned, it's no wonder they don't get to fly it often. I've been to airshows where I've seen the Collings bird, and she's supposed to have flown, but each time she's had maintainance issues. Oh well.
I belive the only two nations still using the McDonnel Douglas F-4 Phantom II are Israel and Japan, and the very last of the American F-4s are being rebuilt and used as remote controlled target drones for missle tests.
The F-4s were used by the United States Air Force,Navy and Marines during Vietnam and contined serving as front line fighter and fighter bomber until it was replaced by the F-15 Eagle during the 1980s,and the F-4G Wild Weasels were used as anti-radar and anti-aircraft missle search & destroy aircraft to destroy Iraqi air defenses and radar systems during the 1991 Gulf War.
