Glad to know I still have some luck left… We live above a Chiropractor’s office, so on Tuesdays and Fridays we have to park in the grass along the parking lot so that the patients have enough room. I parked last night and made sure to be farther back for some reason and I’m glad I did. At about 4:20 AM we got hit with some really bad Thunderstorms, during which I heard some loud thumps from our roof. I was a little worried just because there is a large tree over our apartment. But I was honestly more concerned with waking up to a large branch through my living room. Came out and saw this today. The section of grass where my girlfriend’s car would normally be is FILLED with branches and debris. Definitely would have done some damage, and there’s still one of the biggest branches on the tree hanging just over it. Most likely not holding on by much, and what’s touching my car? A few leaves and some debris across it. I am so freakin’ relieved.

I'm in central PA, we didn't lose power but I unplugged everything just in case. The lightning was insane! It was the same here, going off every 1-2 seconds, lots of spidering too. Our apartment was shaking because a lot of it was really close and we were under a warning because a lot of it was straight to the ground. I'm sorry to hear you guys were without power! :C
It was the same storm then! I couldn't see any of the lightning but it lit the sky, the clouds were flashing near nonstop! Really cool looking but a bit scary despite my love of storms. Luckily the power was out mostly while we were sleeping so it wasn't a big thing for us.
Yeah, me too. It scared the crap out of me last night, and I almost wanted to go look but didn't really want to risk going outside. Glad I waited, had I gone out after the first sound I heard I might have gotten hit with something. >_< It's the neighbors tree... So I'm doubtful that they'll want it taken down, we've just been worried about something like this happening since we moved in. One of the biggest downfalls of the apartment.
I live in Central VA, and I'm sure this is the same storm we got hit with a few days ago too.
Took down a ton of trees, and some trees went threw our neighbors homes, cars, and the road. My mother and I were lucky enough and live on a hill, so all the trees fell away from the house. My neighbors down the hill weren't so lucky though.
Our power was out for only a few hours, but we were out of the house cleaning the yard and helping neighbors. The storm started for me at around 2pm in the afternoon and lasted for two hours. Was like a flash hurricane.

Oh wow, that's awful. :( It was really nice of you guys to help clean up! I looked around the alley along where we live, didn't really seem like anyone else had damage, we're one of the few apartments that has a tree near them. I didn't really hear any sirens or anything last night either which is good. And we didn't lose power at all, lights were flickering a lot though.
Our electrical companies in the area work very quick too so power came on fast for us, and most surrounding people. My boyfriend lives on a back dirt road though, and they had a snapped powerline in the road. D: I had to drive around it and make a trek to get him and go hunt down a truck to fix it. Haha, was surely an interesting day.
