Yeah, I haven't been around lately. Real life can suck some times, but hey, that's life. ^^ Anywho, probably a dissapointment for y'all, my first piece in weeks and it's not furry or sexy. I did this in OC probably took an hour or two, with my sexy new tablet (Thanks to my boyfriend for that one... thanks hun! :D) it came out awesome.
Anywho, interesting anecdote, I used to absolutely HATE the Excelsior class starships, but eventually, and I don't know why, they became my absolute favorite starship class.
Anywho, Kind of a what if scenario... what if the USS Excelsior hadn't been sabotaged and caught up with the Enterprise after she was stolen? Well, obviously she destroyed a warp nacell, and also the Impulse dome. That aughta slow her down. :3

Great pic! I don't think they would have actually fired on the Enterprise, but it would be a sad scenerio either way.
Good thing Scotty knew what he was doing.
Miranda Class is actually my favorite class of starship - but the Contitution Class refit is nice too.
I actually have both the Enterprise Refit (the 'Big E' ) and an Excelsior Class starship as models that I'm in the process of painting.
The Refit I'm actually thinking of rigging up and lighting.

You'll HAVE to post pictures. :3 I used to have a rather large Excelsior model, but I never finished it for some reason. :(
For me, man, it's a tough choice between the Ambassador class, the Excelsior class, and the Miranda class (watching the last few DS9 episodes is like porn to me ;))

Ambassador class is another of my favorites!
Miranda class sits comfortably out front, but second place is a close one.
Ambassador class, Nebula class, and the Constitution class Refit are all vying for 2nd.
And I know what you mean about the last few DS9 episodes being like porn.
Amost the whole Dominion War plot-line was riddled with lovely starship action.

http://www.furaffinity.net/user/sapphire/ is doing icons, but the offer ends tonight. Eh Shattered Universe just wasn't that great.
if you want to fly a starship then try star trek: Encounters. you can fly the nx-class, the constitution-class, the defiant-class, the galaxy-class, the intrepid-class, the nebula-class, and the sovereign-class starfleet ships. plus several different xindi, klingon, romulan, cardassian, jem'hadar, and borg ships, and the level of detail on each ship is incredible.
For starship command star trek: encounters would probably be your best choice.

Heh, according to the lore of Star Trek the transwarp drive on the Excelsior was actually a design flaw so she'd have had the exact same top speed as the Enterprise herself.
According to what lore one can find around the 'net apparently the Federation has the theoretical science behind a transwarp drive, but the scientists haven't been able to actually make a working unit.
Now that said...oh the Excelsior would have totally kicked the Enterprise's arse. She's a Battlecruiser and hence has bigger guns and thicker armor/shields than the Enterprise.

Heh, you have to be a big ship to qualify as a battlecruiser. Traditionally a battlecruiser is a ship that's designed to carry a battleship's guns at cruiser speeds.
So if she had been able to run down the Enterprise she should have had the firepower to punch a hole in her shields/armor with a single salvo.

Well the movie would have a ... well a joke less and a weird end. *G* Or they would have to break free and capture the excelsior...... and blow that bird of prey out of space with a full crew........
i lie the Miranda class most.... (Khaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan vessel......) and the Nebula class ^.^.

Was watching Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan, and Star Trek III: Search for Spock the other night on my Toshiba rear screen projection HDTV. I remember going to the theatre to see them on opening day. Then I was reading the copyright years... and I felt really old! Especially now seeing William Shatner on Boston Legal... He's almost as big as the Excelsior!~ (just kidding)
Can't wait to see the new movie coming out next year!
Live long... and prosper!~

neato had always wondered about this what if scenario.
Goes full nerd mode now, 1 transwarp was a failed project, so the "new experiment" would likely not have needed Scotty's help. If it wasn't a failed project Transwarp would be in TNG. With this being said The Excelsior was likely not even capable of warp speed with the Transwarp core installed. 2 This variant of the Excelsior at sub light speeds wasn't very nimble giving the Enterprise a slight advantage in maneuverability. That problem was later solved by the addition of two more impulse engines on the port and starboard sides of the saucer section much like the Galaxy class. 3. With a failed transwarp engine, means no phasers seeing phaser power was routed through the warp engines for increased out put..
Now for the other side The Enterprise would be hampered by its automation center, that couldn't even manage to raise the shields without freezing up (If the Enterprise had a full crew that would be no problem, but in Star Trek III she didn't).
So given the situations presented in the movie, it would likely be a rather boring battle.
Now put both ships into the perfect scenario could prove interesting the bigger more powerful Excelsior vs the Smaller more nimble Enterprise with Kirk in command.
I felt the same about the Excelsior, hated in the movies liked it in TNG and DS9, The Lakota would be an exlcesior class I'd like to see in action, nearly destroyed the Defiant. But I think it boiled down to how it was portrayed, in the TOS movies ithe Exlcesior was portrayed in sorta a bad light or more so the end of an era. Where in TNG and DS( you were left feeling for it like we did for the Constitution class, out gunned and out dated to its newer counterparts, left feeling bad for it in a way, and it was a reminder of the old Star Trek a lot grew up on.
