from getting it glued on, trimming, shaving and painting it! :D
ALL done with a stiff brush (of a few sizes) NO airbrush was used or is used in any of my works.
SO... I'll explain each panel...
1) glued on fur, white on muzzle and under eye is scissor trimmed at this point.
2) some shaving and also scissor trimming
3)more scissor trimming to get good shortness and smoothed out with an electric shaver!
4) brown base details/ shading laid on
5) white smoothing out on the muzzle and a bit around eyes
6) muzzle spots and some more tiny details.
7) black added in many areas hiding edges! and making him really POP
8) some subtle brown/grey added to areas and in creases to add more relief and detail :3
Final large... ) Whiskers added!!!! :D (horse hair from a brush)

And I really love the finished version, it really does stand out beautifully.
I'm going to make the arms AWESOME where the long mane goes down the top and back of the arm making the whole shoulder/ chest area of the wearer super fuzzy and handsome!!!
oh it would be so cute. and I also want to make a Rasta lion!!!! but I would want to get darker fur for that :>
and I needed something to sell to raise money for my move. My mom loves tigers and the first tiger I make will be for her :>
I could even see this as a black panther... possibly with larger eyes ;)
but I can't wait to do all of those fun stripes with my paint pen! :>
I love the way you made your costume though! ^^
and thanks. Im redoing the ears and MIGHT change the colors of the eyes. I did not get TO much positive feed back on my walk this weekend, mostly people saying I was scary haha. Guess they don't like my soul gazing eyes >:D lol
and omg the silicone smells crazy. just smells like vinegar XC
and it does! Don't get me wrong I like vinegar but....not in my room haha
I'm really impressed with how much depth the paint adds. It's interesting to see a paint job without an airbrush!
I'm excited to see that they're not necessary!
What I also like about the sequence pic is that this reads sort of like a fursuit-building history. The first unshaved and unpainted face resembles what one might see from many folks' first try at fursuit making. The next couple look like a "skill level 2" fursuit build, and so forth as the mask gets progressively more refined.
This is so perfect. So detailed. I need lion partial. NEED. My body is ready
your bf's char is a lion too right? ;) ERHMERGHERD!!!
IT STAYS THERE. LOL. so painting it on any fabric/porous material it's permanent. It has to be brushed out though. and the acrylic has to be thinned out with water or with a dry brush! always brush it out with a comb or a pet hair brush! so the fur doesn't clump up :)
I love these progress shots. They're so helpful. :D
out of curiosity, what kind of paint/dye did you use, if you don't mind me asking?
I'm curious tho - does this mask have 'eye-holes' at all? I can't spot them so you've either hidden them really well or...
