He may have only played for three years but ask any follower of Wichita Falls Wolves basketball about Kai Coyote and they'll have nothing but good things to say about Kai and his telekinetically-powered shots (though, even Kai admits that not using his special powers did help his strength, conditioning, and stamina grow.)

During a time of intergalactic peace, Kai decided to head to Earth on recommendation that there were physical contests that he, after undergoing Ratchet's training regiment, could easily win. He made the APBL (Animal People Basketball League) team very easily and led the once-moribund team to the playoffs in his first two years, and the Wolves won it all in his final year on the team. After three years, Kai left upon hearing that the Solana Galaxy was once again in trouble and that Ratchet and Clank would need his assistance, he announced his "retirement" with the hope that the war against Emperor Tachyon would be short.

Kai is often credited with bringing the sport of basketball to the Solanese, as a way of developing strength and conditioning, and it was after the war played at various events to mark the memorial of the Solanese Armistice.
