Shifting Stratum: Temple Run
Here we are, the final showdown.
In which one man proves his strategic ability, and gets completely screwed over ny the RNG.
NO SERIOUSLY.
Small spoiler alert, but the ending to this is worse than a Blue Shell in Mario Kart, kinda feel bad but the rules are the rules and can't fudge 'em for anyone.
Anyways, that's the end of the story thank you to everyone who played and thank you to everyone who voted! It was.... a lot more work than anticipated doing this, but since the material is made, may eventually do a sequel. After all the hard part of making the boards and rules are already done thought it might be interesting to try a game with people playing from the altered world, so a full blown sequel in terms of continuity, meaning if I do go with that, the players would all start as furries and could be any age or size.
But that's for another time!
For now, we are done and I think I earned myself a break.

Erica: I... that centering. That was... fairly, um, sorry, Brian. But, hey, let's look on the bright side; you have some magical powers that you didn't start the game with! I wonder how much it'd cost to buy the game from that shopkeeper... he wasn't as nice as Mr. Foxkeep. Keeping a magical, fun game like that hidden in his basement...
Erica: Perhaps you thought that pine martens were cute! Or, it could've been cards messing with us. I mean.... *she drops her voice to a whisper and speaks conspiratorially* I think it's due to a card, perhaps, that I remember you as a human! Y'know, one of those mythical beings - I mean, look around, it's obvious that they don't exist, so... how could I remember you as one when it obviously can't be true?
Erica: Yeah, which is why I think it was some card that was making me think you were human. I mean, how would that work? Me and Brian - a beautiful kitsune and a 12 year old mongoose - playing a game with two humans? How would that have worked? Had to be the game making us think you two were humans! It's the simplest explanation; I mean, it seems like something the game would do, come up with mythical creatures for folks to be tf'd into... or think they'd been tf'd into, or from or something.
Erica: All things considered, I'm close to normal! I mean, ok, sure, I'm younger, and a bit smaller - for now - but I'm the same species! Or, I can be! *giggles, shifting to be a mouse, then a hummingbird, then a golden lab, then back to her normal kitsune form.* I think I came out ahead! I gotta run home to get money to buy the game! I... oh, poo. Am I on an allowance now? I'm gonna have to save up to buy this game?
Erica: Why are you calling me "Miss?" We're the same age, aren't we? I bet we're even in the same class now... *grins, holding you up to her eye* I don't know if I have a spell that works, but, if you look around, folks are going by, using wings, using magic. So I'm sure that, when you get home, your parents will see your size, figure you were playing with spells and whisk you off to the local wizard's office to make you bigger! Or... they're the same size as you, in which case, I'll see what is in my parent's spellbooks. Surely they'll have something...
*Turns to Brian* "And WHY did you keep zapping ME?! You blasted me every chance you got, it seemed. and 3 bloody times, you cheated me from at least getting decent placing..... GAH! Sorry, but NEVER getting a break does that to a guy. Even winning that Strata was useless, since I still was in third place....
I know it seems like being a sore loser, but after all of that, I STILL gotta worry about someone stepping on me or being eaten by one of you, And to top it all off... MY SHADES ARE STILL BACK TNHERE!!!"

Erica: Well, it wasn't in a box! It was on a table... Oh. Um... I wonder if I can sneak past the Mean Mister Mustard-Lion... or at least ask how much the game costs. Um....
Well, maybe we can find a shop that sells sunglasses for tiny mice? I mean, look around - so many folks in different species, sizes... some using magic, some flying, so, surely....

"Honestly, I don't understand why nothing seemed to wanna go my way.... I start out the day as a human, who at least had a pair of shades he liked, now, I'm a speck of a mouse, who frankly won't be able to survive like this.... Seriously, there BETTER be a way to grow me to a size where I don't have to worry about being accidentally crushed!"
The point totals don't really do anything in real life.
The purpose of points was really just to help you prepare items and get a better turn order for the final level. Once you're through those shop squares in the final stratum the points don't really do much.
