This piece was partly influenced by the Terry Brooks novel, the Elfstones of Shannara. In a war against overwhelming numbers of demons, a unified army of elves, sky elves, dwarves, rock trolls, and Border Legion soldiers make their stand. My favorite character of the Shannara universe is in that book: Stee Jans, the commander of the Border Legion Free Corps. Based on the description of the unit and its colors, I came up with this.

I identify with Stee Jans. With all the odds stacked against me, I continue to fight. In a way, this image isn't just of the Free Corps commander - it's of me.
