The EFBC or Exotic Feline Breeding Compound, also called the Cat House, is in Southern California about 100 miles north of Los Angeles. They have a variety of felines from all over the world, including a couple of ocelots. I attended one of the events many years ago and got to hold a ocelot, really fantastic.

Note that to get to the EFBC from Los Angeles, you have to travel on Highway 14 past Vasquez Rocks Park, where episodes of the original Outer Limits, Wild Wild West, Star Trek and Sliders TV series as well as scores of movies and TV shows were filmed, including The Flintstones live action movie.

I wonder if they would like a volunteer mascot for some of their events, especially Kid's Day.

The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens is another great nature center near Palm Springs, south of Los Angeles. It has animals including meercats, cougars, ocelots, birds including golden eagles, hawks and falcons, botannical exhibits, a hiking trail and is well worth a visit, especially during the Christmas season where they show the Wild Lights display with 750,000 lights.

On Highway 111 a few miles from the turnoff from Interstate 10 is the Palm Springs Areial Tramway that climbs to the top of a mountain for views, hiking trail, dining at a restaurant, exhibits and a novelty store.
