a sketch for a wolf t shirt. I'm not crazy about it. what do you guys think?
Or should I just go with the earlier sticker design? (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8177402/)

As to me I imagine he's pissed because who/whatever made him drag his ass up that cliff and he's going to take it out of sumone's hide...or maybe ass.
1. As others have said, change the tail (probably just drop it). It looks odd covering the moon like that. Alternatively, push the moon up a little higher and only change the tail a little bit. Since the moon as depicted makes a very strong artistic statement, I'd be reluctant to move it, but it is an option if you like that result better.
2. I think the wolf could use a SLIGHT (emphasis on slight!) reduction in muscle tone. And while I'm sure a lot of people are inherently opposed to that, I still think it's artistically appropriate. Wolves, generally speaking, are seen as "lean mean killing machine" kind of creatures, as opposed to the expected beefiness of, say, bears. I think it would help the picture a lot if he slimmed down *a little,* particularly in the foreground arm, going for a more "sinewy" look. The reason I've emphasized "slight" and "a little" is that I know your particular style is full of deliciously muscular men, so there's nothing wrong with the wolf being beefy; I just think that "on the slimmer side of beefy" instead of "on the superbeef side of beefy" is more appropriate for this piece.
3. Getting some color, even simple color, would make a HUGE impact here. Particularly in what color you want the wolf to be: generally I'd recommend dark colors (brown, grey, or black) but with the big ol' moon there, you might want to go for pale-grey or white for him. Ideally, the sky would be a deep, dark blue or indigo, but simple black works fine as well.
4. The 'patches' on the sides of his muzzle look weirdly flat in the sketch as-is. I strongly recommend making some alterations to the face to restore a more three-dimensional look; it won't be easy, due to the sharp angle of the pic, but I think it'd be worth it.
A lot of this you've probably already thought of, being an artist rather than an art-consumer, but I figure it can hurt giving my two bits. :)
As for sticking with the other design, I guess if you plan on making an 'angry' series and eventually adding more species to it, that would also be wonderful.
I would also suggest making him lurk a bit higher off the ground. He's so low to the ground, he resembles more of a cat or tiger prowling than a wolf. I still say let him be close to the ground, but with a little more space between his chest and the dirt. Or maybe his chest is so beefy it can't help but reach the ground when he crawls, buuuuut that is hard to convey if so. Even if that's pretty hot. :B
By the way, your work stuns and amazes me every time you post a finished piece. I hardly comment, in part because I'm too stunned to have words left, in other part because, well, I never know what i could possibly say to contribute. x3
The face seems not to be the attention of the pic, and a bit small. I think the best way to go is, Foreground hand & fingers planted on the ground grinding in the dirt, as it is pushing up his body up. his other hand is up trailing dirt off it.
Head extended and snarling with drool whipping. Muscles in arms and shoulders bulging as you see them pushing forward in it's leap as the victim.
The legs and tail should be blurred showing the speed of the action.
Sorta like how they would do it as a comic book cover/pin up.
But this is only my point of view of the pic. You always seem to get it right sooner or later.
Or just slap a lion behind him and let it be a nice rump pump O:3
Get rid of the leg on the left, bullfrog squat is a weird position
and
Make the tail stick out so you can see the point, right now it doesn't look like a tail.
Other than that, clean it up, stick some kick ass colors like you do on it and go make oodles of money and I'll add it to the list of shirts I'll be buying.
Play around with the position and size of the moon. It's getting close to doing a tangent on his tush.
Push the proportions, and when you get to refining, play with your shapes for the print. Zoom out as far as you can to see if you still get what's going on. If it's on a T-Shirt, badass ones are instantly recognizable from far away, so make it clear. Add and subtract to see what works best. The muscle tone is good, don't add drool because it may convilute the design, don't blur shit if you're going for a print. You know this, you have impeccable tact!
You have potential with this! I prefer it over the older one, where it feels more static (stable though). This could be very dynamic. Play around with the idea. If you yourself aren't sold with it, stick with the old one. This could be an opportunity to explore!
Why not make like a little mixture of the two? Add more to the sticker design, and remove a bit from the shirt design?
I like this new design.
As for this design, the concept of the moon and the hunt/stalk pose looks awesome. I do agree that the tail is not exactly in the best position, it could be changed or removed.
If you make this to have a really mean face I'd say this is the way to go. And would love to have one myself ^^
