I LOVE this shot XD I had to time this just right and I'm glad I did. Good composition, good lighting, only had to do some Lab conversion tricks to bring up the colors a touch and selectively add sharpness, otherwise no edit required!

The thing about DoF is that it is hinged completely on aperture. I don't recall where I found it, but I saw a test where someone took 3+ different photographs at significantly different focal lengths (was something like 200mm 100mm and 50mm or something), they kept the aperture the same size, but physically moved forward and backward such that the subject they were shooting was the same size/position in the frame. The result was that, other than the focal length induced compression, the DoF DID NOT CHANGE.
That's huge thing to prove, because that means that technically my 50mm may have been a better choice here as it would have been 1 stop larger aperture for a better DoF and the focal length difference between 50mm and 80mm+ would have made no difference in the DoF so long as I still composed for the same result (walked closer).
However, I really like the compression that comes with the extra focal length, it makes for a simpler background composition and I find that f/1.8 can be a bit too big of an aperture to get consistently good sharpness on the subject because the DoF is so small.
