More digital painting practice. This painting was just a side project for when I need a break from commissions/studying. I like that I'm at a point in my life where taking a break from drawing involves more drawing.
Anyway, this painting was basically a continuation of those viking doodles I posted earlier. These two were one of the sketches that I wanted to take to a more finished result.

Actually this was based on a documentary I watched suggesting that recent evidence has us rethinking the way vikings dressed. It's on youtube, I bet you'd find it interesting: http://youtu.be/Zf9Wx0wTDc8?t=1m49s
I will kill you, you troll. >:|
AND NAY, DESPITE YOUR TROLLING I WILL SCHOOL YOU ANYWAY BY THE NAME OF THOR ODINSON.
VIKING HELMETS WITH HORNS WAS A MISCONCEPTION THOUGHT UP BY THE ROMANTIC PAINTINGS OF THE LATE 1800S THAT ORIGINATED IN FRANCE. TRUE HELMETS FROM SWEDEN, NORWAY, AND ICELAND FROM THE VIKING AGE (8TH TO 11TH CENTURY) HAVE COME TO LIGHT IN ARCHEOLOGICAL DIGS AND HAVE INFLUENCE FROM ANGLO-SAXON AND GERMANIC SOURCES.

I'm just doing what comes naturally.
You know, part of the reason I put horns on them is because I knew it would drive you crazy and it would give me an excuse to send you to that video. But in all seriousness, I was aware it was inaccurate while painting it, I know vikings don't actually look like that. This was never intended to be a serious painting, just something cartoony that gave me an excuse to practice freehand painting i between commissions.
