To be honest, I'd probably freak out a bit if I ran into Edith unexpectedly, but that's because my brain would be telling me there is a mouse less than an inch from my eyeball KILL IT BEFORE IT BITES! Of course, that would mostly just make my hop back and swat at empty space. Objects in vision may be farther away than they appear.
