Yea, I felt like recording this. Maybe when I get my gear in order I might make a "real" song around it. This little tune is done with the OverDrive on; and sounds... well.. happy.
I got the idea for the first part of the song (the F,G,C thing, whatcha call this?) from a Dutch cabaretier with a song going "Oh wat gaat alles toch geweldig" (loosely translated "look how great everything goes!"; which is a pretty sarcastic song in which he expresses his gratitude to how great e.g. an ordinary doorbell works. The `second' part just came naturally. And when I'm able to play more then 5 minutes without feeling the strings in my index finger for the rest of the day I hope to have learnt some techniques to make a nice song out of this.
Pretty much like most music I made it's just in a pre-finished state. If you have some pointers in how to kick a Sound Blaster Live in shape in Linux or just some playing tips in random; I'd be happy o hear it.

Yea; part of the distortion comes from the ``overdrive'' function; but most is indeed from some problems with the amp->PC connection. I've been working with it for about an hour until I decided to just give it a try. The cracking seems to be ever-persistent no matter how low I put the guitar, amp or pc input levels. It's a lot better as with my first try. But now I've also got an USB sound card, so perhaps that one will work better.
