Just a little sketch I did this week inspired by some stuff I've been writing with 
. The story we're working on centers around Luthien's childhood, around the time of the creation of the first Rings of Power. And since I've never really drawn her as a child before, I thought it would be an interesting experiment that might yield cute results. lol
On that note - you guys are going to see me doing a lot of work with Luthien from here on out. I have, for a long time, debated placing her into the actual Tolkien universe, since I draw so much inspiration from his stories. However, I hesitated because the sheer amount of research it would take to find the correct way to do it was a bit overwhelming. So up until now, I've been vague about Luthien's background.
Thankfully, Bagheera is well versed in Tolkien's writings, and he knows the history of Middle Earth well enough to help me out. Working with him has given me the shove I needed to finally work her into that world. :) I've already decided on when and where, and have even come up with some clever ways to work her into some key moments in elvish history, I think its going to be fun telling her story. :D

Aw, she was just adorable when she was little. You really did a lovely job with her, too. I can't remember your having drawn a child before, but I think your art, and your character translate very well into the younger look. As for working her into Tolkien's world, I can only imagine how much effort that would have to take. There aren't many worlds as varied and complex as the one he created. But if anyone can do it, I'm sure you could, and it's great that you've got someone to help you out so much, too. I'd love to see what you do with her sometime, too.
