For any wondering, this is also a well-known step most fursuiters ask you for. The dummy basically becomes a much lighter version of -you-, that won't complain, get hungry, go to the bathroom, or otherwise move. Easy to use model to build a suit around.

Between that, an measurements, you can make clothing that basically -perfectly- fits a person, within a small degree. Same for fursuits, which are basically just special clothing with a head, tail, an some additives. :}

LOL! That's a cute little kangaroo plush on the shelf back there. Especially cute because it looks like it's eating something.
(Yeh, I know, big dummy in foreground, but the plushie caught my eye)

I know from experience that being a model for a duct tape dummy is both a disturbing sensation...and a rather interesting one. I think I did pretty well, really...only one minor panic attack in the middle when I couldn't breathe as well as I wanted to. Ah well, adventures in fursuiting!

And yes...you do find who your true friends are. They're the ones who say "I could so rape you right now, and there's nothing you could do about it..." But they don't. ~.=.^
