Kicking ass and chewing bubble-gum in the cockpit. And, he's all out of bubbgle-gum.
Possible scene from a rail shooter that I'm working on developing.
If you happen to have any experience making games (preferably in Blender, although it doesn't particularly matter), and are interested in helping, pleast let me know. I could use it, especially with coding.
The ship has 108 polygons. The first 2 buildings have 6 polygons. The third has 1536, but just for the explosion effect. The ground has 50, and is then instanced

Interesting idea, I would be curious about helping a bit if needed. I've got 8 years network engineering and am quite familar with most major languages.. My work with Blender is a work in progress but my gallery shows what i've done.. Low poly model work is also familiar to me.
I've been working with python. Although, I don't really know anything about scripting, aside from a little experimenting with batch script here and there. (made a launcher for TF2, so I could run it from my desktop)
For the most part, I just need a few codes. One for continously moving forward, except while I'm pressing a certain button to make the ship stop. I also need a setup that allows me to limit x and z translations with constraints, although I can use coliders for that. (I'd much prefer to not use colliders though, as I plan to have other things going on outside of the play area.)
I just noticed; the general art style here is very similar to the old Mechwarrior 2, but with a ground texture. Have you ever played that game? Just curious.

I picked this up somewhere.. Its an FPS control setup for the Blender Game Engine.. Its a good spot to take a look at the scripts, i've loaded it into my dropbox.
A few tweaks and it'll do what you need.

Blender's game engine is actually very versatile without using much python. Some stuff DOES require it like using a mouse to control the view but for a 3rd person game (like Mario or something) it's easy enough to get by with logic bricks. It's actually pretty cool, I've got Ace walking, running, jumping, pushing things, and throwing fireballs without any python.
I'm not knocking python, I'm just saying it's not absolutely necessary, and also if your code is inefficient logic bricks will be faster anyway.
Let me know if you want some help figuring out the logic bricks.

I'm actually working on a project to compare how well both Blender and Unity 3d can handle what I want to do. (i.e. mechanics, stability, special effects, etc, mainly the mechanics, though.) For this particular scene that I rendered, I tried to keep the poly count as low as possible (i.e. as low as Star Fox, on the SNES) But, I've read that some engines don't handle that well.
