My commencement at SJSU! (Version 1, watercolor)
(This was uploaded and posted from the University of South Florida in the Tampa suburbs. I thank them for letting me use their scanners and public computers as a visitor.)
HOORAY! After many years in school, I have finally completed my classes from three universities, and now I can enjoy life as much as I want.
You will notice an asterisk on the top right because technically, I finished my major, but I did not apply for graduation. To me, it is a good thing because I can apply for many minors. Until I obtain my diploma, I will have another pic of me (fursona) in my toga and slateboard, with me erasing that asterisk with lots of delight. I will graduate from San Jose State University with a biological sciences major (B.A.; college division indicated with a gold tassel) and I plan to have minors in English, French and chemistry.
If you had seen my horrible art from SJSU I had posted earlier, I had some impromptu draws in watercolor-they were horrible. REDEMPTION HERE! I did add pencil after painting for shading. Though the area in the door under my left hand was water damaged, I did fix it, and it was OK. I am standing in front of Morris Daley Auditorium/Tower Hall (It was not exactly what it actually is-look at the SJSU website to see how it looks like in RL.) proudly showing my school colors on my stolls--this attire is what I actually wore at the commencement, though I could wear just one of either! Yeah, I used grid paper, but I want to get rid of it ASAP before I go and use unlined-it is good practice though. When my aunt in Miami saw this, she was afraid because my fursona looked like a rodent (mouse/rat.) Really, does it look like a rodent to you?
I do rate this pic as a 5.5 out of 6, but it is very well done on watercolor. Though I may need more practice in making the colors more uniform, I like what I did. I can admit that I will need more practice in shading in black too- though I actually have my toga as black, I did try to add definition wtihout harming the other areas, but I felt that I was not ready enough to apply it, but I did good on the cap!
I do want to thank, from the last journal in which I posted,
skarute and
styles373 for the congratulatory comments and support they have given me. Thanks so much. For those graduating this year (2012), for you, the sky's the limit! Feel free to draw and fur up with all the time you have! Congratulations!

For U.S. high school students, it is when they officially earn their diploma or a certificate of completion (These two are different.)
For university students, they can go at any end of school year and wear the cap & gown, but if they don't apply for graduation and complete the major, their name won't be in a record book of all the graduates that year.
Though I did not get my diploma, I did achieve something and me wearing this was not a waste-it is something I can cherish.
