I don't get the joke, but I just see it as him having to reprocess the situation of the bizarre present in contrast to the past he has been reminiscing about... or the fact that Optimus would even consider there was not more to the story based on the fact he is in the situation he is in now.. or even the fact is is talking to a toy about all this.

I figured that it was, I'm a very draft roo, so reference can go over my head- especially being born in the 90s and more into sport (not like a jock but a stats fanatic with sport).
