Blaine was, is, originally a cyborg. My ideas ranged from enhanced joints (don't recall WHY) and stuff to full artificial. Blaine is a very artificial sort of person, but gains this naturality along the way I suppose. He's a bit of a metaphysical construct, able to simultaneously be many things - though usually integrating them into a whole, rather than them being opposites.
I used to philosophise a lot over this man-machine thing. What if you are a cyborg, your flesh can heal but your machine parts can't. What if your body is constantly changing from all this?
Steeltail is his pain. When desperate, thrown into deep water... the machine parts come out, break through his skin, bleeding blood and oil. Protective, defended mode, able to survive down there in the depths.
Welcome to my 17 year old head. Many of my characters, especially from then, are aspects of myself. When philosophising today (I swear I think I meditate when I draw sometimes) I had this feeling of a bit of closure, bit of full circle. I've healed a lot of old, old damage in the last 2 years, all things considered. And every day I become less naïve. But I still feel like I haven't lost that in me at all.
This is kind of intuitive to me, I swear I'm not trying to be intellectual :B
