HAHA, I think they are just gilded pot metal and little plastic gems. They only cost about 5.00 USD I hated wearing them during the wedding. Im quite sure yours is more heirloom than these. Mine were meant to be eye catching and glitzy for the 2-4hrs of a wedding then they are lost, forgotten,given away or fall apart, which ever happens 1st.

how long did it take to get all that face jewelry on?

It took about an hour for the jewelry. total dressing time was from 9am-2pm. That included a ritual herbal bath and getting hair,makeup,dressing and everything.

My husband was raised with the Hare Krishna religion so we had a traditional Hare Krishna wedding. It was fun but there was alot of ritual involved. Afterwards we had a Buffet style feast of 17 different Indian dishes, and the cake was very American, tall with 3 tiers with the bride/groom figure on top. everyone loved it

I love the cashew, rice and peas and the Gauranga potatoes. The Tomato Chutney is great on Kitchari (http://www.ayurveda.com/online_resource/kitchari_recipe.html) I put potatoes, and broccoli florets in mine.

Oh yea, anywhere in an Indian cookbook that it says use Ghee, you can use regular butter. Most spices can be bought anywhere but asfotita(hing) is usually at indian or healthfood stores.

This is the part that honestly always makes me cringe a little. [mostly due to the fact that...well..yanno it's Money!]
