Realism Test: Fenrir Sketch
*This entire description is a story of how this picture came to be. If you wanna hear my life story, then read on, if not, read the last paragraph*
I recently had an inspiration that hit me like a freight train. A friend of mine in ROTC knows how to draw 20 times better then i can, but a few days ago, he drew a wolf in the most fantastic way. It looked so real, and reminded me of Fenrir so badly. The thing that really captivated me was how he drew the eyes.
And that was what started me of on a realism spree, looking at photo after photo of wolves, and trying so hard to draw them as real as possible. But, everything came out horrid by my high standards. I soon became tired, and stopped trying.
Then, just a few nights ago, i had the most vivid dream i have ever had. And of all luck, it was voraphilic too! When i woke up, i just walked over to my desk and started doodling. Drawing after drawing came up, each looking more and more real then the last.
Finally, after eating up 25 sheets of paper, and 4 hours of work, i had found the magic essence of what makes a drawing of a wolf look real or not. And so this picture was the final effort of my newfound discovery. It is still just a rough sketch, but from now on, i will endeavor to make all of my pictures look as real as possible.
