A while back, I did an open call for Friday Night Freebies, and  manifesteddreams suggested a Rainbow Phoenix. These Eastern cousins are less fire elemental and more sacred beast, and quite colorful.


Had lots of fun with this, but OMG did it take FOREVERS. (And then I decided to diecut the whole thing, so I could put it on a dark background. Cuz, y'know, it's such an easy design to cut out... @_@;)

Prismacolor markers on sketchbook paper, against a black pulp/cardstock background.

Also: Since my scanner INSISTS on washing out all the beautiful highlights, shading, and gradients in this image, I may update this later with a photo. Which might be a good idea in any case, since the entire thing won't fit in the scanner bed (so the edges of the wings got cropped out of this scan).
