Well, what a odd picture subject coming from you. I likes it...and no, I'm not biased at all.

it arose out of a discussion involving the amount of translators they have at the UN. Something like this may not be far from the truth, considering they need to translate in realtime, soundproof, and also be able to block out all the other sounds that would distract them. It's one step away from complete dehumanizing sensory deprivation (that is achieved with the sunblind which I added to this picture for artistic/scifi effect)

Well, no worse than someone working at a fast food place. Go to one, even better if it's downtown at lunchtime, when it's super busy. Watch the workers shuffle and scurry about, heads hung low, amidst a sea of beeps, heat, endless frying sounds, and shouts. You can keep someone in sensory deprivation without strapping them up, if you bury the senses with a barrage of overpowering sounds and smells, and sights they have conditioned themselves to block out. One good way to prove this is to try and make eye contact with a employee there, and really say thank you to them. They wont even notice it the first couple times, until you get aggressive with it. Also, I'm not talking about the college kid working there on the weekend...I mean a fast food employee, one who works there full time. They aren't too hard to pick out.
