Or, as Reva titled it, "Discussions of Import." Yeah, big surprise: my Inner Child likes Legos too. :B
I've been a huge lego fan for years. I remember eagerly reading each Lego Club Magazine, pouring over the catalogs when they arrived and marking each one I wished I could have if I had the money. I've built multi-level Hogwarts castles, space ships with rocket launchers, all sorts of Bionicle stuff… I just love creating stuff. The two builds in here have a personal connection to me: Little Jay's ship is the Renegade Runner, the first pirate ship I ever had, while Big Jay's is my own build of a Viper Mark II from the reimagined Battlestar Galactica. As a kid, I loved pirates and high adventure on the open seas and such forth. As an adult, I've kind of moved more to the science fiction side of things (even in my fantasy stories!), as hinted by my Doctor Who t-shirt and extremely nerdy MOC. But hey, the two of them still have a lot in common. As a kid, I came up with pirate ships sailing across the stars to distant planets (why yes, I did love Treasure Planet, why do you ask?), and as an adult I not only dream of starships doing the same, but I can rationalize the pirate sailing starships. Ahh, good times. Good times.
Big thanks to Reva for doing this, including for leaving absolutely no room for anyone's imagination to conclude that Little Jay is diapered under his shorts. Ya bunch of weirdos. :B I'm looking forward to the next time I get to commission you, dude!
Jay is me.

Legos and the Pirate Theme are property of the Lego Company
Doctor Who is property of the BBC
The Viper Mark II and Battlestar Galactica belong to I THINK Glen Larson
PS: Also, to answer the question in Reva's original post, the combination of stormy seas, no proper landing pad, and the pilot having to do it manually would complicate the landing process to the point of impossibility. Also, the mast would get in the way, since the two vehicles are almost the same size.
