If one was to just look at the last eight postings on FA one might be left with the impression that my Equestria dreamscape was some H. P. Lovecraft after school special. Nothing but pain, horror and all consuming madness. However that would be an incomplete observation. In fact any many ways my dreams in the land of two princesses have been some of the most wonderful and enjoyable dreams I have ever had. Maybe that is what makes the current dream arc seem so cruel and gut wrenching. To see something so beautiful and precious being so rudely abused seems to highlight the nature of the crime.
The morning after Applebloom underwent her horrifying transformation in the Everfree Forest, http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8118586/ we awoke in our cottage http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7012640/ to discover the first snows of winter were falling on Ponyville. After attending to immediate and personal needs in the bathroom I began performing my prerequisite morning duties of getting the fires lit in the cottage, and making certain that the all important pot of coffee had been started. After that I stepped out to admire the scene. Now I am a California native who has lived all of his life either in the Los Angeles Basin or the San Francisco Bay Area so except for a few times while hiking or fishing snow is a novel experience. Furthermore in this dreamscape I am a pegasus weather pony in training, so as I stood there in the chill morning I could feel the naturally and magically forces guiding and building the system. It flowed and ebbed through me, especially my wings which were positively tingling with energy. It created a sense intimate connection to the world within me. After a few more minutes I went back inside start preparing breakfast. A few minutes later Petina and Carousel finally woke up and got going.
Later as I was cleaning up the breakfast dishes in the kitchen and stowing them I stopped and looked out the window. Petina standing motionless outside. The white unicorn had her head turned up the heavens. She had obviously been standing there for a couple minutes because she was covered in a fine dusting of flakes. Against the stark environment of grays, white, black and deep blues and violets her bright scarlet scarf, brilliant green eyes and fine silhouette made for a striking image. In contrast Carousel was galloping around the property laughing all the while and having a grand time. Apparently she had already mastered the trick of galloping then sliding in long slow rotating orbits. All the while giggling mightily! Eventually Petina joined her in the game.
Finely the mares grew tired, and cold, from their play and decided come inside and warm up. They had excellent timing since I had just finished hot chocolates for us and the poppy seed cakes were just coming out of the oven. With a tray balanced on my back I brought the treats out to the living room and then carefully transferred them to floor alongside a thick plush rug that rested in front of the fireplace. I settled down on my belly in the middle of the rug. Carousel and Petina came over and laid down along side me. Carousel was on my right, and Petina on my left. Instinctively I lifted my wings and ruffled the down feathers on the underside of my wings; then I draped them across their backs like a blanket. With the fire crackling cheerily we enjoyed our mugs of hot chocolate and slices of warm poppy seed cake. For us it was a very nice morning. Elsewhere in Ponyville things were different, but that is for another post.

I especially love the bottom third, where you are spreading your wings over Petina and Carousel. It all looks so very cuddlesome and affectionate.!
Though I wonder how long before Petina tries something, being the kind of gal that she is.
And thanks for the break in the nonstop horrors we've seen that were inflicted on poor little Apple Bloom.

Well, it's the beginning of winter, which is a time better spent in a cuddle. But Petina's feeling a bit on the mellow side if her time out in the snow is any indication. So I give her 2 and half minutes.
I'm worried that I may be reaching a bit with that estimate, but I'm going to stick to it anyway.

Your sense of timing a change in mood is very welcome, although I do wonder why you didn't put the middle sketch at the top.
What -- no sketch of Caro(use)l playing in the snow?
Okay, as a middle/southern Californian you've had little experience with snow in RL. What about in your other dreamscapes? (I'm assuming Andur is a "no.") And is the same true of Petina and Caro(use)l?

Well Petina has the most experience with snow since she graduated from the University of Michigan, but Carol has lived in California most of her life to so it is a new thing for her to. Actually it has very briefly snowed twice in Andur but it always and melted within a couple hours. The locals had no clue what to make of it but they sure did not like the cold.

...since [Petina] graduated from the University of Michigan...
Wolverines! (No, I'm not a sports fan, but I'm a Michgander, too.) *waves at Petina*

Reminds me of when my sister told about a southern city she was in shutting down for about 1/2" of snow.

Quick question...
I Imagine this would muck up your work, but do you think you could possibly find the time to turn out a Color ref for your three OC ponies?
The story is very interesting and the artwork is awesome, but I think a color ref to see just what they look like would be really awesome too.

Petina seems so happy in the snow. Almost like she's remembering childhood memories. And the one at the bottom looks so nice. Almost familial. This is a wonderfull break from all the grimdark stuff. By the way, whats been happening in your other dreamscapes? As much as I enjoy seeing Equestria through your mind's eye, I'd like to know how things in Andur are going. Or what the girls from Move To The Music have been up to.

I asked him about this as well.
He said other people have asked him to do one dreamscape at a time, and Equestria has been his most vivid dreamscape ever; so it gets priority one. He could have gallery folders for each dreamscape if FA allowed it, and I assume he's not interested in a deviantART account; not to mention trying to sketch, let alone upload, his other would be a huge pain at this point.
So no, we're not likely to catch up with Andur, or anything else, for a long time. He hasn't stopped dreaming about it, though. At least we're lucky his mind isn't brony enough to reject all other dreamscapes forever for no reason

I like your description of how a pegasus can sense the forces of magic and nature in the weather.
Yes this weather sense is a lot more handy and useful then the one I have in the real world. About forty eight hours before a major weather system rolls in my back hurts like hell for a couple hours. Then it goes away.

I had this song playing through my head as I was reading the description: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbGlpSBm-nA
I love calm, peaceful winter scenes like this.
