This is a very old piece of mine. It was from an idea I had for a story called "Lords of the Air" where an abandoned Amusement Park world has left the "Critters" populating it to fend for themselves. The Technology has broken down into a pre-WW 2 level, and Rampaging Warlords send armies clashing over who gets to control the world's dwindling supplies. Here, a luckless Flying Tiger pilot has had his plane shot up by the dreaded "White Skull." -A merciless pilot who seems determined to shoot any other aircraft out of the sky. No other pilots have seen his face either as the canopy of his plane is mirrored. Those who have gotten close enough to even see if the aircraft has a pilot in it have not lived to tell their tales.

Have you ever read any of the Billy Barnes adventures that appeared in the old magazine called Air Trails? The stories were published during inter-war years and it deals with a private mercenary air force fighting all over the world. You might like although I'm not certain anyone has republished since?
