Time for me to post some brand new cattle pictures for a change.

These four heifers have now been at my place for three weeks. Later on in the summer, some more heifers will be arriving, as well as a bull, whose job is of course to make them all pregnant.

During the summers I always take care of other people's cattle, in exchange of getting my pastures grazed. It always varies from one year to another, how many they are, of what breeds they are, etc.

It also varies immensely how used they are to human contact, and if they are scared of humans or not. Some years it takes months, and a lot of hard work, to get them to trust humans, and other years it goes very quickly.

This year has started very well. These four heifers are all really cuddly, and enjoy getting massage and scratches from me. It only took a few days to make them trust me, which is unusual for the cattle belonging to the people who owns them.

The two on the left are pure-bred Simmental, the third one from the left is a cross between Simmental and Holstein, and the one to the right is a cross between Simmental and SRB (Swedish Red-White Cattle).
