Whats an adventurer without a hat?
I was tired and a lil sick yesterday but I needed to wait for my meds to start working (which is more effective when your torso is upright, btw) before I could pass out. So while I waited for that, I remembered that I havent drawn Val in a while.
30% of you already know that Val and Beyl work as Adventurers (I say that instead of "Mercenaries" because nowadays "Adventurer" is more interesting) Most of the time, Beyl sends Val on her own to do small things. Since she's not exactly mortal, when they work together she's both Beyl's weapon and shield if need be.
As for the hat, she keeps it close always because it originally belonged to her first master who was a 16 year old kid. He died at the tender age of 20 before she could devote. the hat was something he lent her earlier.
His death wasn't her fault at all, as a matter of fact, she was lightyears away for it. The kid's family had predetermined destinies. His came young.
I'll doodle some more today.
I decided to wait for the stylus on my commissions, so don't worry, I didn't forget.

Her story is horribly sad. ill tell the story sometime. I just need a while to write it. What's worse is, even though this was the 4th character I ever made (back when I was 14) I'm not even close to the end of her story/lifespan.
What's weirs is I made Beyl about 4 years ago and I'm already nearing the end of his story.
If you didn't catch on, character development for me takes years. I have to live with them and eventually come to an end.

You should write it out and send it to me. I love character back stories.
What will happen at the end of Beyl's story? Will you keep it going?
Depending in the character, I can usually churn out their development fairly quickly. I don't like to be put on the spot about it and prefer to have them change and grow over time, but it is possible for me to write the story out with little to no pre-write.
That being said, I like characters who constantly change, grow, evolve, and so forth better than archetypal ones.

I will. ^-^
And beyls story is supposed to end with him getting his eyes back. In development, he's just now on the trail of the aparition he traded eyes with as a kid.
Whether or not he dies is a ways away from being determined though. Since he's my sona, bank on him living XD
All of my characters grow, so its hard for me to create a consistant character that can be used for anything because I try to stick to cannon encounters.
The closest thing I have to that is Val, here, but that's only because she has already been in everything. She's even been human. I've seriously included her in 80% of my ideas, some of which have not made it past early development, but still.

I used to have a character that was almost-me-but-not-quite that I used for nearly everything back when I role played, but she was too 'perfect', pretty Mary Sue back in the day, and I got bored of her as I got older and role played less.
Of course when I write now, I make up characters on the fly, as well as their back stories, which I hint at in the story they are in.
That's one reason my sona changes a lot, cause I tend to stick to a 'what if I was outwardly how I feel inwardly' format, then mold the look to my mood or whatever 'reality' I'm writing in. Ie writing the 'real world' as if having fur was the 'norm', and so forth.
