11 x 14 (close up) color pencil
Wingtip to wingtip will be about 20"
Hopefully tomorrow I will get the rest of the stripes on her, finish her bow and arm, tail, and get some wing started. I will write the story that goes with her after AC.
full line drawing is in my gallery.
comments and suggestions welcome.

Looking at her draw placement you may want to extend the tips of her bow further. Such a long draw (past the eye) is generally only seen with very large long bows or with asymmetrical bows (like these two: http://warandgame.files.wordpress.c.....2/burgmerf.jpg http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_IoKyba98j.....h+yumi+bow.jpg ) Otherwise the nock is held under the eye in line with the cheek like this http://www.epilogue.net/cgi/databas.....w.pl?id=104668
The armpit on her drawing arm looks a bit high to me, I don't know if you can change that at this point or not though.
The feathers closest to her back also seem a bit short, like they should fill the negative space over her quiver.
Her bow arm looks a bit skinny around the biceps, archers that used longbows all their lives developed some crazy large arms and shoulders to the point that professional soldiers in the middle ages actually had deformed by their own muscles and the strain they constantly held.
Hopefully these help you some!

I've been getting some pointers from a great artist and longbow enthusiast on this. I originally had the bow at a full side view which made the bow a bit longer but rotated it to clear her leg and foreshortened it. She sent me pictures in interesting positions and she rotated her bow to quite a degree, that gave me the idea. Yes I know the draw is a little behind the eye, I originally had it even with the eye but the bowstring covered one eye and almost the other so I moved the head a little forward. A little give and take. the feathers on the right wing are a bit foreshortened though I may still lengthen them a little. When you mentioned the asymmetrical bow, I knew what you meant, I'm familiar with Kyudo, very freaky zen thing. I've bow hunted since 1980 but only used compounds.
You're right about the arm pit. I'll work on that.
Thanks

I miss Artspots, learned a lot there. I've learned a little more here and there and actually am just now working on my first commission piece. the other stuff I still have or sold at con art shows. I don't think I will do many commissions (Stressful) , but I'll keep on plugging along trying to improve.
I,m on another site similar to ArtSpots, Nabyn. Small but helpful.

I would think commissions would be stressful because you might have to draw new things :/ Nabyn seems like Deviantart :) It seems cool so i'll have to try it out. But like i said, I think it's pretty awesome to see some awesome artist make their first posts. Almost like when Neil Armstrong made his first steps on the moon. :)
