I like it when used in mixed media, but I -hate- using it by itself. Even if it does look pretty snazzy at the end. Sooo velvety~ v.v I'm just prone to messing it up. I'm a fan of water color & acrylics though. :O I'd also really like to take an oil painting course.

I was forced to use gouache at school too. XD I really enjoyed working with it but MY STARS it was so expensive compared to watercolors I gave it up after a while.
The thing about gouache is that it's tricky to dilute in just the right way and getting a more expensive brand helps so that when you lay down layers of thin paint, it won't crack. Yeah, it will actually cause cracks in the paint sometimes in cheaper brands.
But it really does have a nice effect if you're devoted to it...
