He's going to be listed for $98 at AC. Unfortunately, there isn't any real savings on going smaller. Material cost isn't as much of a factor. In the fox, there might be about $10 worth of materials. Even if you went half-size that might be a $5 savings.
The real cost is in time. Each piece of glass takes me about the same amount of time, big or small. They all have to be cut, ground, foiled, and soldered. So he would be the same amount of time even if he were half the size.
When I create the design, I don't have a pre-planned size in mind. I just work out the design until it looks right. I then count the number of pieces, and decide on a price based on piece count. Once I know how much I need to charge, I figure out how big it needs to be to sell at that price. Most of the time, I print out larger and larger versions until my gut says "yeah, that looks like it's worth X dollars."

They look harder than they really are. The worst was probably the grey-brown piece that is the forehead. I had to make several cuts to get that deep section out. Next time, I will probably do it in 2 pieces. It will be easier to cut, and also allow me to do a change in direction of the grain.
thats what i thought! I've traid staned glass before but it was like WAY harder then it looks!
