Hunmm. *taps finger on chin in thought*
Not actually the reaction I was shooting for although on reading it again today I can see where it could seem terrifying to be in that situation. I was actually trying to give the character a sense of ambivalence to his situation, as though he’s adjusted to his plight but still dealing with the fading memories of a lost life.

As I said to M its not actually the reaction I was shooting for but after rereading it again today I can see where it could seem terrifying to be in that situation. To tell the truth, this felt sort of familiar to me, as I often have that feeling of reaching back through memories for something distant and almost visable . . and then coming back and taking a few moments to remember why I came into the room I find myself standing in :)
And it is a little scarey when I suspect that I might have forgotten something important . . .
