Well I just lost a bet with a friend who said "someone's gonna comment on her gender" WHOOPS
I pointed it out in the description of the last picture I linked to, but I think the only references to her being a man in the Japanese version are just Beldam calling her one. I think it's just a really derogatory thing in Japan, and knowing Beldam...
Of course there's just about as much proof going either way as there is for Birdo's gender crisis, SO WHO KNOWS

Actually it's pretty well stated in the Japanese version of the game.
In the English version of the game they decided to make her a female because it's not as well accepted in American culture to have transgender characters. It's no big deal really, I guess I just have a thing for boys that look like girls. u wu
