One of my favorite shots from the entire trip. Unfortunately, I'm not sure my editing did too good of a job of it, and I don't think this will be as appreciated by others as much as how much I liked it XD
This was taken as I was driving back home over Tioga Pass. past Tioga lake, just before Ellery lake. I originally stopped to just shoot the tree. I've always liked the idea of a shot with just a lone tree with the sky behind it and nothing else. The ultimate in a simple, elegant nature shot. I was lucky to find out once I ran to the spot to shoot this, that it was something more, because the moon was perfectly located right behind it and with the little bush out front, it made for an almost perfect trinity. I saw that some clouds were approaching the shot so I waited a bit until they moved in. As I had hoped, they acted to add some character to the sky and wonderfully balance the rock bellow the tree to outline a triangle around/between the 3 subjects while adding some character to the subjects.
Like I said, I was excited about this shot and it's simplicity and elegance as a nature shot. Unfortunately, I'm not too happy with how I edited it =X I would like to edit this to the point of being print worthy, but I'm not sure it's there yet. I will want to revisit this to do a better job on it =X This might be better as a black and white image.
