Ah may bad but when you said "The one with the glowy green planet goo" (lifestream) and "an evil company" (Shinra) I automatically though you might have got Dragon Quest confused with Final Fantasy. I haven't played any of the Dragon Quest games cept VII or VIII (can't remember which one to be honest. I just remember it was on PS2) so I really don't know which it could be ^^; I'll check wiki and see if I can find which DQ game it is.
