I was a temporary mom for a super adorable possum soft mount made by Atfirstplush: http://atfirstplush.deviantart.com/ who is now with her new and permanent mom <3 She was such a pleasure to have here and the adorableness that follows her wherever she goes.
Extremely super thick soft fur and those itty bitty hands! AFP's work is so amazing, I wish I had the camera that could handle such a little angel (if such a camera exsists, I mean look at that face!)
Please note: This possum is handled very gently and with care and respect. She was with me and was a tremendous artistic visual aid as it the rest of my pelts. Okay, sorry for the noob question, but what is a "soft mount"? Is it a taxidermy animal used as a plushie? Like in you would sleep and cuddle with it like you would a stuffed animal? I do know what a "normal" taxidermy mount is. Seen them myself but I was having a hard time finding information about the soft mount.
This is in no way meant as a disrespectful comment I am just curious about the subject.

Lol I know there are some younger owners that most likely would, I wouldn't personally. "Soft mounts" were actually the very first "stuffed animal" before faux materials were created...
A "soft mount" or "plush mount" as some refer to it as, is the method of traditionally mounting the head of a fur bearer onto a taxidermy form but stitching and stuffing the body to make it, in a way, poseable. They can be more convenient to have around for referencing than a fully traditional mount and can be fantastic references if made properly. Lately though they've become a viral fad to make/own one and there are many in-experienced youth out there that are attempting to make them without the proper knowledge or materials so you will find more "fur zombies" as comically reference to rather than proper soft mounts.

For a minute I thought it was alive but then noticed the unusual look and posture of that arm. Then I knew. :3
Found a lil opossum a few days ago hiding behind out washer. Pulled him/her out and took it outside. Went a good ways away and let it loose. Then examined the house everywhere for a place it could of gotten in. Found out it quite possibly came in from a very old doggy door that was placed by the old owners that we had closed off. Fixed and reclosed it off.
