You all may know me mostly as a cat person, but Ibis was a lot more than a dog. She was my drinking buddy. Ibis loved beer and wine and one time even stole the vodka shot from my cousin. Every time I was drinking she would beg me for a little. I only gave her a little bit because I know dogs are not supposed to drink alcohol.
She also loved to eat like a pig and even sounded like a pig. She once stole a doughnut from my computer keyboard and almost chokes trying to swallow it whole when I caught her in the act.
She was also greedy like me. When she went to the doggy park she would collect all the tenis balls lying around and bring them. Then she would sit with her treasure between her front legs and guard it. She loved tenis balls. At home she would parade around with a ball in her mouth making grunting sounds like a pig. That was her way to display happiness.
My wife found her inside a box in the parking lot of Home Depot, the last remaining puppy of a litter, the one nobody wanted for being the ugliest. She had a long life and in these last days when she was already blind and sick we tried to make her as comfortable as possible.
I buried her today next to her old friend Yara who died some time ago, under a marble slab, with a tenis ball next to her head.

She was not really a heavy drinker. She would beg me for a little big of whatever I had. Usually beer. I poured her a little bit on her dish and she would lick it. It was not enough to make her drunk.
The only time she got really intoxicated was when she sneaked behind my cousin and plunged her snout in his vodka mix. She would try to walk and fell on her side, then instead of getting up she rolled on her back like she found her lack of balance amusing.
After talking to some friends who told me dogs have very small liver I was careful of giving her only enough to taste it and make her stop begging, but I didn't let her get drunk again.
