I actually laughed when I saw this image. It brought back memories of the train sets I had and wanted when I was a youngster. In my head I started thinking up the devices to let a tiny, 3-D Derpy pick up a "Mailbag" in her mouth, (Using a magnet) and tossing the bag out the door once the train arrives at a station.
Lionel made an accessory back in the 80's that makes the "pick-up" part actually possible. They made a swing arm that would swing a metal mail bag out to the train and a magnet you glued to the side of a car picked it up.
I though about getting on but they're like $45-50 when they do come up on ebay.

Ooooch! The "e-Bay Principle" strikes again. That's what I call it when the folks who supply the items on e-Bay want way too much for what they have. Say like $200.00 for a "Working" searchlight car with one of the lenses cracked. In some folks eyes they see a item that's more than 25 years old with obvious wear and tear on it as the "Key" to an instant fortune.
Anyhoo, it's nice to read you're an expert on the Lionel trains. I used to write to a friend in Ipsalanti, MI who worked at Lionel a couple years before things shut down. The "Trackview Camera" of the 1980s couldn't save the company like the Minnie and Mickey Mouse handcar did in the 1930s.
