14 x 21 graphite
I will be starting the color version this week and hopefully have it done for AC.
My first two attempt at wings were a fiasco so I put a lot more time into figuring out how they work but still had problem with perspective, especially with her right wing so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Ref pics were only used for wings.
She is a tigress but all on her body will also be near black with black stripes just barely visible as spots are on a black leopard. In white areas, she will be stripped as normal.
I have an extended bio which amounts to a short story to go with her but won't write it till after AC. Big piece but her body is smaller than I usually work with. BG will be limited to within the circle.
suggestions and critique would be greatly appreciated on this one.

Looks very promising! Anatomy, pose and composition are all very dynamic.
The only concern I have is the arm holding the bow. The fur on the biceps makes it overlap the deltoid (shoulder). I believe the deltoid should appear to be on top. The wrist also seems a lot bulkier than on the other hand although this is maybe due to the glove. The thumb seems a bit detatched. Perhaps have the base of the thumb a bit further towards the arrow?

I knew there was a problem with the left shoulder. I'll break out the anatomy book and get it fixed. I would have gotten to it by the time I got to the coloring stage but I was lazy. 90% of the time though has been working on the wings. Yes, the thumb was bugging me to and I think you are right about what to do about it.
Thanks
Thanks
it looks wonderful so far, very dynamic. so do the wings.
the one concern I have is the right wing's "upper arm", which appears to be longer than the left one's without perspective or foreshortening.
a lot of artists (including me, I have to admit) make the mistake of turnign the upper body in and draw the wings the same length and perspective left and right, as though they grew out of the shoulders instead of below and between them.
I hope that helps.:)
*sigh* perfect wings...I need to look up more references for them, myself. ^^'

Oh, wow! Now that's quite an impressive refinement compared to your last sketch. :) I love the dynamic of the sketch and the overall pose is really beautifully done. Only the arms still look a little off. I think the elbow of her right arm (left, if you look at the piece) should be placed a little higher, pretty much following the line of the arrow. I think regardless of how you shoot, having such a long straight line might help the overall composition of your piece, as you already have a strong, straight line created with her legs (and quite beautifully so). Also, her left arm (right if you look at the picture) seems to be a bit too long. The arm would, as it is, pretty easily reach her knees.
But aside from that, I am so looking forward to see this piece finished. You did an awesome job so far and I hope you will keep it up. I love the way you did the wings (though the left one could use a little tweaking - maybe "wrapping" it around a little more, emphasizing with the dynamic composition of this piece? It's rather hard to explain, though ...) and also those little details you already added (like the knifes at her leg) are really awesome.
Good luck on finishing it in time, I'll look forward to it. And of course, all of the above is merely my opinion which is completely subjective, but I hope I was able to help you a little non the less. :)

I KNEW you were going to tell me to raise her right elbow, I knew it should be more in line with the arrow. I almost did it and figured I'd do it after you said something.I'll fix it.
I'll work on the left arm length some, that should also help with the problem of the bow not having enough bow for the length of draw. I'll probably have to rotate the bow a little more.
I worked on that wing for three days. I wanted more bend myself and completely redrew that part of the wing a dozen times but couldn't get it to look right and I couldn't find any ref with that pose except one but it was rotated to much to translate.I know what you mean about not being able to explain it, that's what I really want to do but I don't know what else to do with it. :(
Yeah, most of my concept drawings are very rough. They usually start as an idea that pops into my head while I'm doing something else and I take a couple minutes to put it down on paper so I don't forget.
Yes, you've helped. I may not have bothered to go back in and shorten her left arm without your prompting. Thank you!
