Nice to see her hackels up along her backbone. Almost never see them drawn. Scary guns, if thats what they are.

They're both. The devices are mainly sensors with cameras and various other detection devices. They also have short range energy weapons intended to either discourage or stun any life forms that show hostile intent. The spheres in the background though, are mobile probes. If it becomes necessary to distract or immobilize the creature, they can "Herd" the creature away from the ship or cast nets. Of course the ship's main weapons take on the task of eliminating hostile life forms should the need arise.

Very expressive. Nice hair standing up along spine. We critters have to watch out for those robot deep space probes that are programmed to find and collect biological samples!

Garetta instinctively try to make themselves look "Bigger" when they encounter an unknown or unfamiliar threat. This also means they can stand on their hind legs and put their front paws on a human's belt buckle and look a person right in the eye.

I'd sure enjoy that!
