Artist Statement:
When I think of beginnings, a huge number of different kinds of beginnings came to mind. The beginning of a story, a game, a journey; each one valid and profound in their own way. For me, it was the beginning of a life that struck the most resounding chord. Not always pretty, not always wanted, but it is still a common factor we all share. We all began by being born, one way or another, with a first breath of air and a sudden and inescapable emergence into life and light. The most magical and mysterious of beginnings, one we don't know where it will lead or who that tiny person will turn out to be.
