No Plushie Commissions
Don't worry, this is not directed at anyone in particular. But since I've started posting the plush toys I've been making, I've had a lot of requests for plush commissions. This seemed like the fastest way to answer folks who might be looking at my user page and wondering if I took custom orders.
Cause, you know, most people don't read!
I guess it's also a notice to the random few who note me and ask for free art. Nope, don't do those either.

I don't get it very often, but it does happen occasionally. I honestly get more anger over my censor bars and watermarks more than anything else though. And sometimes there are those that choose to throw a hissy fit over the fact that I refuse to take adult-rated commissions.
Some people just think "no" doesn't apply to them.

I have more resect for someone who holds strong to their values than for a pushover anydays ^_^ Good on ya! Admittedly I can totally understand asking for a lower price everynow and again(not by any means saying you should bend) but money is tight and so a few dollars is at the least understandable. Now asking for like a 30$ comission for 10 or 15 dollars is obviously out of the question, but maybe from like a 30 to a 25 or something...(and Im not trying to put in a request either lol, just saying I can understand why people would ask--never know unless you try). But if they get mad about it afterwards...? Thats them completely and totally in teh wrong. And it never ceases to amaze me how many people dont understand WHY lol Youre an amazing artist, keep doing what you are doing!
Thank you for understanding! The phenomenon about potential clients getting angry at artists for being told "no" is growing. Dragoneer posted about it a short while back. Seems over-entitled people were trying to get FA admin staff to "force" artists to do what they wanted. Silly, really.
Some folks just like to haggle. There is really nothing wrong with it as long as they're polite. I've seen it happen in retail stores and I've also seen it work in some cases. (Its not something I do, I used to work retail.) As far as furries go I don't think its true haggling in most cases, its just folks feeling entitled and being cheap. Once someone states that their prices are firm that should be the end of it, pay the asking price or get lost.
Simple things people forget (esp people wanting cheaper/free art)
1) Artist don't nearly charge enough for the time and effort they put into it. It a love of art cause they sure the heck don't get paid the time they put in. Time building the piece and the skill to build the piece. Not even going to get into material cost.
2) If a artist is so busy he not able to take commission then he not going to want to give you cheap/free art.
3) you degrade/disrespect the artist if your asking for free/cheap art. Your basically telling your artist that they are worthless. You don't respect their effort when you want it for free.
Some rules of thumb for artist (esp commission)
1) Use price to control your work flow. if your being Overwhelm by request or it taking to long to get stuff back it time to raise, the price. People that say your too expensive are people you many not want to deal with cause the don't value the work. I know we all want to be kind but you have to set boundaries or you get overwork, overwhelm and burnt out.
2) If your not getting commission it time to look hard at yourself. is it time to drop price?, what can i change, is it time to invest in a new line or better my skill level/people skills a little?
3) Have fun, This is rarely paying enough to be treated as a full time job, but as a extra income hobby it works great.
Sorry i going to get off my soap box now. :)

I SO hear ya on this! I make plushies and costumes when I feel like it too, never for commission, but I DO take art commissions as well!
I need to make a sign like this one day. Do you mind if I model a sheet like yours (but completely) different? I wouldnt mind even linking you as where I got the idea from.
Any who, great stuff! Keep at your passion!

Yes like this sign yo have here, tat clearly illustrates "Yes I make costumes, but I do NOT take commissions for them; However, I do take art commissions!" Something like this yes :> Awesome, thank you! It will be totally different from yours :) Keep up the great work! Id love to own one of your MLP works one day should I have the chance at fate to bid on one!
I don't take custom orders because I like to do things on my own time, and having deadlines stresses me out. I prefer to make things on my own time, when I want to do them. It's more enjoyable for me and the final product is better that way. However, if I know people are wanting a certain plush, I'll make one or two and put them up for sale. I'm going to have some plush for sale in the near future, including ponies, so keep watching my journals.
Sorry! You're welcome to browse what I have available in my online store or the stock I carry at conventions! http://studionekoneko.storenvy.com/
