Shadow awoke from a deep slumber and gave the area a quick survey. He was in Kami’s room, and on the floor by the balcony, a gentle aura of light coming through the curtains. He slowly got up, stretching and wandering/stumbling to the screen door, Shadow pulled open the screen door slowly, a smell of spring entering and filling the room with the scents of the flowers below. He leaned over the guardrail looking off into the distance at the slight outlines of the capitol and its many buildings. Shadow sighed and relaxed, the only thing that truly relaxed him was enjoying the outdoors. It kept his mind off the mayhem going on and lets him enjoy the moment.

“You back from your slumber?” said a voice hidden behind the drapes.
Shadow jumped, “God dammit Kami, stop scaring me like that!”
Kami stepped out from behind the drapes laughing, “You make it way too easy to scare you when you come out here.”
“Well i actually feel normal when i am out here, more natural.” Shadow said turning to gaze back out over the balcony
“yea, i remember when we first met, you were always alone” Kami said
“yea i remember that, was just after i finished homeschooling and started going to a public school with gabe” Shadow said, slowly remembering his time in 10th grade or cornet high



5 years earlier


Shadow stepped out of the hover car, exited about his first time at a real public school and the joy of not having to be homeschooled anymore.Gabe had started school 3 grades before because he was more social, Shadow on the other hand, the teacher they hired urged them not to allow him to until he was older.After countless hours of arguing with his parents they finally agreed to let him attend cornet high. Shadow was always a bit antisocial except to his family, he never had friends that weren't part of his family because the house was so isolated. Shadow wore his usual slightly baggy jeans and sweatshirt with the hood pulled up over his head and walked in with the tide of students rushing to get to class and get their gear. Shadow walked through the rows of lookers looking for his, he looked back at the paper with his info, locker:1567

he looked up at the locker row he was at, the locker in front of him read 2534
“dammit i’m not even on the right floor” Shadow mumbled to himself
he turned and began to walk, he slammed into another person falling to the ground
“Watch where you're going!” he yelled and continued walking on
Shadow slowly got up cursing in a different language at the kid.
“are you lost or need any help” asked a voice behind him.
Shadow turned, a snow leopard stood innocently peering with content at Shadow
“uh, yea! i do need some help.” Shadow pulled out his information and handed it to her
“where are those lockers?” he asked
“oh, you're new here aren't you?” she said still with deep interest in her expression
“yea this is my first day” Shadow said
“Ok well your locker, 1567, oh thats down the hall take a right and take the stairs down to the first level, make another right and you’ll be in the general area” She said smiling
“thanks, this building is confusing” Shadow said smiling back and beginning to walk away
“by the way, im kazee” she said
“well thanks kazee, maybe i can talk to you later” Shadow said, he turned and began to walk in the direction she had indicated to find his locker.

3 hours later


Shadow sighed, the day so far wasn't anything he had expected.
He arrived late for his first class and was scolded by the teacher about attendance, his second hour he was harassed by a bunch of kids for no reason what so ever.
He sat in the lunchroom at a deserted table eating his nerf patty, slowly savoring the flavor and trying to stall the passage to his next class for as long as possible.
“Hey Shadow how was your first half of school?” Said a familiar voice behind him
Shadow turned seeing to face whoever was behind him and its Gabe, Shadows brother who got into the public system two years before shadow for ‘good behavior’ while Shadow had to remain home schooled, he was the reason that shadow wanted to go to a public school.
“I might just ask to go back to home schooling, I really don't fit in here.” Shadow said, slightly sinking into his seat
“Aw, it's your first day, how bad was it so far?” Gabe said taking a seat opposite of him
Shadow went to explain in detail his entire day so far.
Gabe sat there confused ‘Wow never heard of them being that mean to people on their first day, you might have a point, you to much of a target here” Gabe said sighing “You want me to see if i can get you back to homeschooling?” he asked
“might be useful, i didn't know that school was this bad is a social aspect” Shadow said sighing
“well, there are always the people who think they are better” Gabe said chugging his drink.
“I had no idea that it was that bad” Shadow said, burying his head in his hands.
“Ok what's this issue now?” a voice said from behind him
Shadow turned and saw Kazee standing behind him
“yea, a lot of people seem to hate me” Shadow said shruging
“Oh please, those are just people who pick on the newbies” Kazee said, sitting down beside him.
“yea and i am already sick of it” He said.
“well, it gets better once you show you your dominance against them” She said.
“Oh really” Shadow said grinning.
“Um what are you thinking of doing” She said slightly concerned.
“Oh you will both see come the end of the day”


Shadows Phy Ed classes went by fast, he spent the entire time on the punching bags and weights, Gabe who was on the treadmill next to the punching bags, after watching him for a good hour finally asked him, “ok what are you training for?”
Shadow stopped and looked at his brother, who was running at a very fast setting, “kazee said i had to show dominance, time to give them what they payed for when they messed with me” Shadow said throwing his right fist hard into the bag
“Should i worry? Dads going to freak when he finds out you got into a fight” Gabe said pushing the stop button on his treadmill.
“oh please, i have been trapped in the house for years, you think he would be surprised if this happened?” Shadow said grining
“yeah, just wait, be real funny when he drags you by your tail and locks you in your room” Gabe said snickering.
“hey! if i get in trouble you're going down with me” Shadow said
“yea i would like to see you throw the blame on me in any way” Gabe said laughing
“oh trust me, i can, you know me” Shadow said, throwing a right hook at the bag before turning and heading to the locker room.
Gabe followed behind him “fine, but i’m not going to help you fight anyone”
Shadow turned into the showers “did i ask you if i wanted help?” then walked away.

well here goes nothing shadow thought as he walked out into the main hallway after his final class let out. As on cue out of the blue came the three, Davis, a german shepard with issues with everything, and his posey Ed and Ricardo both were huskies with a military like sense of direction, need instructions to fulfil it.
“And look, here comes our newest prey” Davis said, coming up to shadow, Ed and Ricardo flanking him on either sides.
“you really want to mess with me?” Shadow said snarling.
“ohh, you're trying to play tough, well guess wha-” His sentence was abruptly stopped as Shadow punched him hard in the stomach, dived away slamming into Ed hard and knocking both to the ground.
“that son of a bi**!” Davis yelled gasping for breath “get him!”
Ricardo moved in and threw his fist at Shadows face, Shadow dodged last minute by a couple of inches and threw back another punch connecting with Ricardo's muzzle. Ricardo went down a heap, blood pouring out his left nostril, a slight moan escaping his breath with every exhale. Davis swore, Ed went running to help Ricardo.
“Well, looks like i have to take care of your personally” Davis said, pulling out a vibroblade stashed in him fur.
Shadow gasped, this fight just got a lot harder. Davis charged him the blade positioned in a standing position in a very violent manner, Shadow tried to dodge it but got brushed in the shoulder by the blade. he felt it cut, and he saw the blood coming out of the wound.
Davis tried to stab his neck on a very noticeable attack of yelling and cursing, Shadow reached up, clamped Davis’s wrist that help the vibroblade, twisted it and shoved his thumb into the pressure point, Davis screamed in pain, dropping the vibro blade. Shadow kicked the vibroblade into the crowd of people rapidly forming to watch, then swiftly kneed Davis square in the stomach causing him to crumple to the ground.
“I don't think you will be messing with me anymore” Shadow said kicking him hard and walking off to his limo waiting for him before anyone could stop him.






“Oh yea thats what happened that day” kazee said
“yeah you bet, worst and best day of my life” Shadow said
“and i just realized, when did you stop calling em kazee and start calling me kami?” she asked
“hmm, oh yeah! we were messing with you and it stuck” Shadow said grinning
“ok well jokes over, back to kazee” She said pulling out a vibroblade and hiding it behind her back
“why it’s still fun to say” Shadow said not paying attention to her
“oh well there are other forms of persuasion” She said grabbing him by his neck and shoving him against the wall and holding the vibroblade up to his neck
“wow, you gotten good at that maneuver” he said “ok fine i’ll tell everyone that the game is up”
“good” Kazee said “now lets go get some breakfast, your story went on forever and now i am starving”
Shadow’s stomach rumbled “yea i guess i am too, ok let's go”






my newest peice, srry for the wait, i had soem writers block, and the fighting parts are a bit what came to mind of that i would do to the bullys at my school, so i had a passion in writing about his past
