Taryn should keep his heel on the ground though, and twist his kicking foot a bit.

The heel vs toe form for hook kick seems to depend on the school. Heel is definitely more comfortable until you have your black belt and ankles of steel!

Aah, it's the hook kick. But even so, the heel should be on the ground, regardless of which school you're in.

Okay, this is going straight to my favorites, for several reasons. First, I don't think I've ever come across an anthro Kirin-morph before. I only blame myself for not knowing he's a regular character in Sand to Dust, because it's on a long list of things I want to read, but never manage to make time for. One more reason to make the time.

Second, I am totally in love with how dynamic this pose is. I've literally never seen a character drawn like you have Jae posed here, his entire body in one huge, sinuous set of curves. This is simply not a pose that just any morph could pull off, with such grace and ease.

Third and finally, this is one drawing were simple really does wonders. Your soft style really allows the viewer to totally focus on the dynamic action going on here, which looks totally anime/Matrix-like, as it should be.
A more elaborate color scheme, might have drawn attention to itself, instead of the scene, overall. That goes double for the background. You've really created a drawing that has the spare, simplicity of a Japanese zen garden. And in this case, it totally works!
