I loved the art on the cover of
lizardbeth's new sketchbook, in a fanboy fit I made up an embroidery design of it and ran it on some scrap chinese fabric I had. She liked it, which was awesome, and in leiu of running it on a shirt or something, she asked if I might be able ro make wallet or bag made from the original piece. So here it is, my weekend project and first time to actually sew something all the way since that pillow I made in Junior High home ec. I'm pretty pleased. Though I did nag my wife, Mere, for a lot of pointers. Mere, who actually makes dresses and things as a home business, liked it so much she's planning on using the pattern herself!
Meduims: Chinese pattern fabric, black ribbon, black faux leather, clear vinyl, pearl snap...
Result: Purse Wallet - 7.5 x 9.5 or 7.5 x 4.75 (folded)

That is a totally cool wallet! Did you do this one from scratch or a homemade pattern?
If so can I have a copy of the pattern? i wont use it for any commercial gain...i just like the layout of the wallet insert! Kudos to you for re-learning the sewing machine
Btw, what make and model is it? My machine is a Kenmore 12 stitch ultra...made sometime in the late 60's early 70's....built like a brick and has only had to be serviced once (so far)
I should really take my machine in to get it serviced tho.....and maybe i should stop rambling

Thank you! This one is based on a pattern I found in a craft forum. I have the link around somewhere, and when I dig it up. I'll note it on over to you.
Don't worry too much about it, the pattern is open, and I made a modification or two to it on the fly. I kinda wish I had taken them down, but oh well.
My machine a brother pacesetter, PC-6500. It's a combo embroidery/standard machine. I ended up getting it used from a local sewing machine shop.
And as much as I ramble, it's only fair.

You'd be surprised, when you buy used the prices aren't that bad. I've seen a pacesetter like mine go for as low as $300 at the local shop, that's completely serviced with a new motor. Expensive, but not out of reach. It's the commercial machines that are still a lottery dream for me.
I've sent you the link, so have a look. All kinds of fun stuff on the site. I'd love to see the pirate shirt! And I know Mere will steal my laptop to check it out if she sees it. I've got a few shirts in the works myself as holiday gifts, you'll have to tell me what you think of 'em!
