After the kogas have been dealt with, a hunting party stumbles upon the cave to the underworld that Gin and his army fought in years ago against what wolves had survived the human onslaught. However, before they can return home, a female dog appears warning them what would happen if they explored the caves. She leaves without telling her name. Ignoring her words, one of the dogs chooses to go inside...never to come out alive...
When the hunting party returns to Gajou, they tell Liara and James. Liara, feeling curious, decides to go investigate the cave. James says no at first but cannot protest when she tells him what Gin had told her of the wolves. Realizing that he couldn't make her not go, James relents and lets her go, but tells her to take the three remaining Mutsu Generals with her. The four go to the cave and enter, going into a world that had been buried for decades...
